You asked, we answered

General

  • Do I need an appointment?

No appointment is necessary for most services—we’re a drive-thru quick lube! Just pull in and stay in your vehicle while we take care of the rest.

Exceptions apply to special-order products or full-day/partial-day services. Please call ahead if you're unsure.

  • Do you have a waiting room?

We do not have a waiting room. Our service is designed so that you stay in your vehicle while it’s being serviced for maximum convenience.

  • Do you have a public restroom?

Unfortunately, we do not have public or customer restrooms available. This is due to factors outside our control.

  • Can I bring pets or children with me?

Yes! Pets and children are welcome to wait with you in your vehicle.

However, please note that you may not use your air conditioning while your vehicle is being serviced. On hot days, we recommend leaving pets and small children at home for their comfort and safety.

  • Can I bring my own oil or parts?

No, we do not allow customer-supplied products.

We cannot verify the condition, authenticity, or suitability of outside products, and we’ve found that customers often bring the wrong items or not enough of them.

To protect your vehicle and ensure quality service, we only use products we source ourselves that meet or exceed OEM specifications.

  • What are your payment options?

We accept debit, credit, and prepaid cards, including tap-to-pay options like Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Pay.

We take any U.S.-issued (and most internationally-issued) cards with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB, or UnionPay International logo, whether they have a chip, magstripe, or contactless feature.

  • What are your hours and location?

You can find our current hours and address on our Contact Page.

We currently close for our lunch Tue-Fri from approx. 12:30pm-1:00pm, and Sat from approx. 12:00pm-12:30pm. This is temporary until we have a larger staff.

Services

  • Do you work on older or classic vehicles, like pre-1970s models?

Yes, we love working on old-school and vintage vehicles. If you’re bringing in a classic car, please give us a call first to confirm we have the necessary parts and fluids available.

If your vehicle has had an engine swap, be sure to provide details for both the original vehicle and the current engine—this helps us get you the correct oil and components.

  • Do you work on ultra-luxury or exotic vehicles?

While we regularly service premium brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Porsche, we do not service ultra-luxury or exotic supercars such as Ferrari, Maserati, Bentley, Lamborghini, McLaren, and similar makes.

This is due to the extremely high parts cost, sourcing difficulties, limited service information, and manufacturer-specific service restrictions that make these vehicles better suited for dealerships and specialized shops.

  • Do you service motorhomes or oversized vehicles like tow trucks or small buses?

Yes, we do work on motorhomes and certain oversized vehicles—including small buses and some commercial chassis. Our bays have a 10’ clearance, and we can accommodate larger vehicles in our back lot. These services must be arranged in advance so we can ensure we have the appropriate parts, clearance, and staff availability. Please call ahead with vehicle details to confirm.

  • Do you service motorcycles, quads, or boats?

No, we do not currently offer services for motorcycles, quads, or boats. Our equipment and service model are designed specifically for automotive and light truck applications.

  • What services do you provide?

Please see our Services Page for a full list of what we currently offer. As our team grows, we continue to add new services to better serve our customers.

We may occasionally offer unlisted services to long-time customers—call us to check availability.

  • Do you offer A/C recharging?

Not at this time, but we may in the future as our capabilities expand.

  • Do you offer brake services?

We don’t currently service brakes, though it’s on our list of services we plan to add.

  • Do you resurface rotors or flywheels?

Yes, we currently offer rotor and flywheel resurfacing by special request. Please call us to arrange. We plan to make this a regular drop-off service in the future.

  • Do you offer smog services?

We don’t perform smog checks at this time, but it’s a service we’re actively considering for the future.

  • Do you offer tire rotations?

Not as a standard service since we work over a pit instead of lifts. However, we may be able to handle tire rotations as a special request by appointment—please call ahead or ask your service advisor. We’re also looking to add this as a regular service in the future.

  • Do you replace or repair tires?

We don’t offer tire replacement or repair at this time. However, it’s a service we plan to add as our shop continues to grow.

  • Can I request a service that isn’t listed?

In some cases, yes. Our technician has skills beyond fluid services, and we may be able to accommodate certain requests. If it’s outside our scope, we’ll be happy to refer you to a trusted local shop.

Oil Changes

  • Can I bring my own oil or parts?

No, we do not allow customer-supplied products.

We cannot verify the condition, authenticity, or suitability of outside products, and we’ve found that customers often bring the wrong items or not enough of them.

To protect your vehicle and ensure quality service, we only use products we source ourselves that meet or exceed OEM specifications.

  • Someone told me to use a different oil than what’s required for my vehicle. Can I request that instead?

No. Many mechanics, quick lubes, dealerships and online forum users are not trained in fluid specification standards.

Each engine is designed for a specific oil viscosity and additive content (such as SAPS levels), and using the wrong oil can cause issues like low-speed pre- ignition (LSPI), premature wear, and even catastrophic engine damage.

That’s why we strictly follow manufacturer recommendations only.

  • How Often Should I Get an Oil Change?

Synthetic Blend: Recommend every 3,000 miles, or follow your vehicle’s owner manual.*

Full Synthetic: Recommend every 5,000 miles, or follow your vehicle’s owner manual.*

*While some manufacturers suggest longer service intervals for modern engines, we routinely see low oil levels—even in brand new vehicles—when longer guidelines are followed. If you choose to extend your oil change interval, we strongly recommend regularly checking and topping off your oil to protect your engine. Keep in mind that oil degrades over time, even under normal driving conditions.

  • WHY DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE AND TOP OFF YOUR OIL REGULARLY

Motor oil is essential to your engine’s survival—it lubricates moving parts, reduces friction, carries away heat, and keeps internal components clean. But over time, oil breaks down, becomes contaminated with combustion byproducts, and loses its protective qualities. If you don’t change it regularly, sludge and carbon deposits build up, leading to increased wear, overheating, and eventually catastrophic engine failure.

Topping off your oil between changes is just as important. Engines naturally consume small amounts of oil, and modern high-efficiency engines can burn through it faster than you might expect—even brand-new vehicles following manufacturer intervals often return with low oil levels. Running low means your engine may not be properly lubricated, which increases heat, accelerates wear, and can cause internal damage.

If you ever see your oil pressure warning light come on, it’s critical to stop and check your oil level—this indicator often means your engine isn’t getting enough oil pressure to stay protected.

Regular oil changes and top-offs ensure your engine stays protected, efficient, and reliable.

  • Why does my particular vehicle have to run a synthetic or specialty oil?

Modern engines are engineered with tight internal tolerances, direct injection, and often turbocharging—all of which place greater demands on motor oil. Unlike conventional oil, full synthetic oil is chemically engineered for stability, with uniform molecules, superior resistance to heat, and precisely formulated additives that protect against wear, sludge, and oxidation. Many synthetics also meet low-SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus, and sulfur) standards to protect emissions systems like catalytic converters and particulate filters.

One critical reason synthetic is required in many newer engines is its ability to prevent LSPI (Low-Speed Pre-Ignition)—a damaging phenomenon that can occur in small, turbocharged engines using the wrong oil. Manufacturers now design engines with specific oil formulations in mind. Using the wrong type can lead to accelerated wear, poor fuel economy, or even engine damage.

Think of it this way: every engine is like a different type of body—some can function on a standard diet, but others require a precise balance of nutrients or must avoid certain ingredients altogether. It’s no different than managing a peanut allergy or a vitamin deficiency. Synthetics and specialty oils contain those custom formulas—tailored to meet your engine’s exact needs.

Most mechanics and quick lube shops are only trained to match oil by viscosity—not by the specific manufacturer specifications your engine requires. At The Oil Connection, our Service Writers are trained to identify and recommend the correct oil that meets your engine’s exact requirements, including OEM specs and certification standards.

  • Why don’t you offer economy oil filters?

Why We Use WIX Premium Oil Filters (Not the Cheap Stuff)

At The Oil Connection, we use only WIX Premium Oil Filters*  because they’re engineered to deliver OEM-level performance and long-lasting protection—far superior to the economy filters used at most quick lube and mechanic shops.

    Advanced Filtration Efficiency

WIX Premium Oil Filters use synthetic-blended media capable of trapping up to 99% of harmful particles and contaminants, helping keep your oil cleaner for longer. They also feature more pleats than most standard filters, increasing total filtration surface area for deeper contaminant capture and greater debris-holding capacity—all without restricting oil flow.

    Heavy-Duty Internal Construction

Built with metal end caps, a reinforced center tube, and a strong steel baseplate, WIX filters maintain structural integrity under high pressure, heat, and vibration—especially important in stop-and-go driving, towing, and performance applications.

    Silicone Anti-Drainback Valve

Unlike cheaper filters that use rubber valves, WIX Premium includes a high-grade silicone anti-drainback valve that helps retain oil in the filter after shutdown—preventing dry starts and reducing engine wear during cold starts and extended parking.

    * We install OEM and other high-quality alternative filters in specific vehicle applications when necessary.

  • Why are you recommending other services during my oil change?

We’ve always included a complimentary multipoint inspection with our oil change service, and have recently added additional checks and services due to customer demand. If we recommend a service, it is either because you are due according to your manufacturer’s recommended service interval, or because it is needed based on our inspection during the multipoint check.

We are not trying to steal from you. It is our shop’s policy to recommend only items that need attention—with no pressure and no upselling. Any technician found abusing this policy will face serious consequences.

If we recommend a service, you can find more details about it in our Additional Services section—including what the item is, why it’s important for your vehicle’s health, and what can happen if it’s neglected. You’re always welcome to ask questions, call around, get other quotes, or do your own research. While we’d love for you to choose us to perform your service, the most important thing is that your vehicle gets the care it needs—wherever you decide to have it done.

As far as additional notes, we feel it's our responsibility to inform you of anything unusual we notice during your oil change. This has helped alert customers to dangerous issues such as loose suspension, holes in oil or transmission pans, severely damaged driveshafts, and other serious problems. We always recommend having your vehicle checked out by your local mechanic for these kinds of issues, as well as for any leaks we may point out. Keep in mind that vantage points can affect what we see—saturations may appear in a different area than the actual source, since gravity can pull fluids away from the point of origin.
